Devit Strainer – Cast and Fabricated Deaeration Strainer for Pump Suction
Flowcen Global Devit Strainer is a hydraulically engineered deaeration strainer designed to remove entrained air, vapour pockets and suspended solids from liquid pipelines upstream of pumps and critical equipment. The design stabilizes hydraulic flow, prevents cavitation, reduces vibration and improves pump efficiency in high-flow continuous-duty systems. These units are specified where air separation and filtration must occur simultaneously, especially in large water and utility pipelines.

Design and Construction Details
The Flowcen Global Devit Strainer operates on controlled velocity reduction within an engineered chamber. As liquid enters, entrained air separates from the flow and rises to the upper chamber while suspended solids are retained by the internal strainer element. Separated air is discharged through an external air release or vent valve, ensuring uninterrupted air-free flow to the pump. Cast units feature uniform wall thickness and smooth internal contours. Fabricated units use formed steel shells with reinforced nozzles and covers, suitable for large sizes and custom layouts. Internal strainer elements are perforated plate or wedge-wire type based on filtration requirement. Bolted access covers allow inspection and cleaning without pipeline removal. Drain connections are provided for maintenance.

Materials of Construction
Cast Iron FG260, Ductile Iron EN GJS 500, Carbon Steel ASTM A216 WCB, Stainless Steel ASTM A351 CF8 CF8M, Duplex and alloy steels on request. Strainer elements in SS304 SS316 Duplex.

The Fabricated Plate Magnetic Y Type Strainer is designed for high-flow industrial filtration where reduced weight, larger screen area and flexible construction are required. High-Gauss magnetic rods extract fine ferrous particles while a deep Y-screen maintains balanced flow and controlled differential pressure. Suitable for cooling water systems, firewater mains, desalination lines, power plant utilities and large EPC infrastructure.

CONSTRUCTION
Fabricated plate body in CS or SS using precision-cut plates, full-penetration welds, stiffener ribs, magnetic core assembly, SS304/316 mesh cartridge (50–5000 micron), bolted access cover and smooth internal flow profile. Drain/blow-off ports provided. Lower weight compared to cast designs, ideal for large diameters and custom geometries. Temperature capacity up to 400°C depending on MOC.

Engineered to remove solids and debris from liquid, viscous and gaseous media, protecting pumps, valves, heat exchangers and pipelines.

Duplex Strainers
Flowcen duplex strainers allow uninterrupted operation. Dual chambers with manual or automated switching ensure continuous flow while cleaning or changing filter elements.
